Nestled in the heart of Thompson, CT, on 30 acres, the ArborActive Forest is the embodiment of environmental stewardship and sustainable living. Managed by a former Arborist and a University of Connecticut Forestry Graduate, our approach to firewood goes beyond mere harvesting; it's about nurturing the land, enhancing wildlife habitats, and providing our community with responsibly sourced warmth and materials. Our operations are a testament to the belief that the health of our forests is directly linked to the quality of our firewood and products. Inspired by the wisdom of Aldo Leopold, we strive to remind our customers of the origins of their warmth and the importance of connecting with nature: “There are two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm. One is the danger of supposing that breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from the furnace.” Our commitment to sustainable forest management means that with the forest product you use, you're participating in a larger effort to preserve our forests' natural beauty and biodiversity. Additionally, when we source forest products from off our property, they are generally the byproduct of tree removal and turned into firewood rather than becoming chips or waste.
